Time: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
us for a special presentation by The Bangor Daily News reporter Aislinn
Sarnacki on her new book “Family Friendly Hikes in Maine” released by
Down East Books in June 2017.
In addition to her book,
Aislinn Sarnacki is an outdoor reporter for the Bangor Daily News, where
she writes a weekly column about Maine trails, which also runs as a
blog with videos. She also writes weekly stories about Maine wildlife,
conservation and outdoor recreation. The Maine Press Association named
her top features blogger in the state for 2014 and 2016. To date, her
blog features videos, photos and descriptions of nearly 300 hikes
throughout the state.
For this event, Aislinn will describe some of the trails from her new book,
which covers 35 hiking locations scattered throughout the state,
including our very own Lily Bay State Park. For the book, Aislinn
selected her favorite nature walks, from bog boardwalks to footpaths
leading to cobblestone beaches. The trails vary in difficulty from easy
to moderate, with a number of the trails being wheelchair accessible.
The book also includes color photographs, all taken by Aislinn on her
adventures. These photographs include a close up of a moose feeding in a
pond in the Moosehead Region, a beaver building up its lodge in
Aroostook County and the dramatic sea cliffs of Quoddy Head. During her
talk, she’ll welcome questions, and she’ll have the guidebook available
for sale (by cash or check only) and signing.
Coffee and lights snacks will be served.
