NBRC Awards $53.9 Million in 2025 Spring Round Grants, Supporting Economic Development and Transportation Infrastructure Projects
The Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) announced $53.9 million in new awards as part of the Commission’s Spring Round competition across its Catalyst and timber for Transit programs. The 69 awards will benefit communities throughout the Commission’s member states of Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont.

Spring Award to: Friends of the Mountain
Project: NBRC funds will be used to support the purchase of the 1,700-acre Big Moose Mountain Ski Area, a key resource for economic revitalization in Piscataquis County, Maine. This project will create sustainable, year-round jobs, attract new residents, and strengthen rural tourism benefiting multiple underserved communities. By securing this funding, Friends aims to restore and expand outdoor recreation infrastructure, fostering long-term economic growth and environmental conservation.
