Burned out from working 6-7 day weeks in Louisiana, Physician Assistants (PAs) Jaime and Luke Knowlton knew it was time for a change so they took a six-month road trip. One of their stops? Greenville, ME, Luke’s hometown. “I fell in love with Moosehead Lake,” admitted Jaime, formerly of New Orleans, LA. “This is where I was meant to be.” They packed up their big city life and moved to Greenville in 2017 to raise a family and work as PAs with Northern Light Health. Jaime is a General Dermatology PA in Greenville and Luke is a Family Medicine PA in Monson, Sangerville, and Greenville.
Now the parents of two young daughters with grandparents living just a mile away, Jaime and Luke are taking another leap of faith by launching a new business in Greenville: True North Skin Medical Aesthetics. Housed in the old bank building on Lily Bay Road, True North will offer holistic skin services for teens to older adults from anti-ageing and skin rejuvenation procedures to Botox, facials, and more. “I want the people of our community to have healthy, natural, happy skin,” said Jaime whose dermatology expertise means she will perform the medical spa services while Luke oversees business operations.
MLREDC played a significant role in helping the Knowltons start True North with a loan through its Allen Family Economic Growth Fund. “The loan enabled us to purchase high quality equipment for our business,” said Jaime. “The application process was surprisingly simple. From the day we applied to the moment we received funds was remarkably only 2 weeks.” Luke added: “We’re so happy to be back in the region and set down roots.” As a Greenville Consolidated School graduate, he continues to bump into residents who remember him when he was young. Jaime and Luke plan on opening their new business in mid-July.
